2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Draw Details Confirmed by CAF

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the official details for the draw of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The draw will take place on Thursday, July 13 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, following the 45th CAF Ordinary Assembly. The draw will be broadcast live on CAF digital platforms and CAFONLINE.com at 15:00 GMT (18:00 Cairo time).

The CAF member associations will be divided into nine groups for the draw. The winners of each group will automatically qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The four best runners-up from the groups will participate in a CAF Play-Off tournament, with the winner earning a spot in the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.

Zimbabwe’s Participation in the Qualifiers Zimbabwe will be included in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for Africa following FIFA’s lifting of the international ban imposed on the country. The suspension was a result of third-party interference after the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended the ZIFA executive for various allegations, including financial mismanagement.

Seeding and Pots The draw will feature six pots based on the FIFA rankings as of June. Zimbabwe is placed in Pot 4 alongside Mozambique, Togo, Libya, Central African Republic, Malawi, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Gambia.
