Tragic Loss: Ivorian Defender Dies From Heart Attack
Tragic news has emerged from Racing Club Abidjan, as their young defender Moustapha Sylla has passed away at the age of 21. Sylla collapsed on the pitch during a match against SOL FC yesterday and despite receiving treatment, he tragically passed away in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. The club’s president Logossina Cisse confirmed the sad news to AFP.
Racing Club Abidjan took to social media to confirm the news, writing: “Mourning Our defender Sylla Moustapha, died this evening after a discomfort on the ground during the RCA vs Sol FC match. Management sends sincere condolences to the Biological family. Rest in peace Moustapha. Rest in peace LION.”
Sylla had joined Racing Club Abidjan from Malian side Djoliba AC in September of last year, after previously plying his trade in Mali. Racing Club Abidjan was the Ivorian champions, having won the title in 2020, and have a strategic partnership with French top-flight side Nice.
