Football clubs Roma and Napoli are both interested in signing Houssem Aouar, a French midfielder who will soon become a free agent.

Aouar has decided not to renew his contract with Lyon and is now exploring his options for his next club. He has been considering different offers that his team has received over the past few months.

Calciomercato.com reports that Roma and Napoli are the two clubs that have made the most attractive offers for Aouar and that they have been interested in him since last summer.

Other possible destinations for the midfielder include Frankfurt and Real Betis.

Aouar started playing soccer for Olympique Lyonnais Academy when he was 11 years old in 2009. In July 2016, he signed a three-year professional contract with Lyon and played his first game for the first team in February 2017, replacing Sergi Darder in a Europa League game against AZ Alkmaar.

He scored his first goal a week later against the same team. He was nominated for the Golden Boy award in July 2018.

In the 2017-2018 season, Aouar was given the symbolic number 8 shirt that was previously worn by Juninho. He scored a crucial goal against RB Leipzig in December 2019, helping Lyon to advance to the Champions League round of 16. They later beat Juventus and Manchester City but were defeated by Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.

Aouar is eligible to play for both France and Algeria at the international level. He was called up to the France under-17 national team in 2014 but only played one game.
