Ten Hag Rips ‘Unprofessional’ Red Devils After Heavy Defeat

Erik ten Hag, the Manchester United manager, spoke softly after his team’s historic loss to Liverpool at Anfield. However, he did not hold back in his scathing assessment of his players’ pitiful performance, ruthlessly criticizing them. The result was the club’s worst-ever defeat in the Premier League.

During the game, the Dutchman was stunned by his team’s utterly abysmal second-half performance, which he did not recognize. He was particularly dismayed by how his players reacted to conceding two goals soon after the break.

In his own words (Erik Ten Hag)

“It’s 3-0, as a team you stick together. We didn’t do that. I’m surprised to see this from our team, I don’t think it’s us, I don’t think it’s Manchester United,” a downcast Ten Hag told a press conference.

Despite coming into the game on a high note after lifting the Carabao Cup at Wembley and staging a stirring FA Cup comeback win over West Ham, United slumped to their worst-ever defeat in 31 years in the Premier League at Anfield.

In addition, Ten Hag, who previously witnessed his team’s defeats of 4-0 to Brentford and 6-3 to Manchester City earlier in the season, did not hold back in his criticism of his players’ professionalism.

“After halftime, we quickly gave the game away. We made poor decisions on the ball, our anticipation was lacking, and we were conceding goals,” he said. “The third goal was on the counter-attack, and our decision-making was so unprofessional. We ran away, gave away space, and failed to track back.”
