Mosimane On An Exciting But Challenging Journey With Al Ahli

Pitso Mosimane acknowledges the demanding nature of leading Al Ahli’s campaign to secure promotion to the top-flight league in Saudi Arabia.

On Tuesday, Al Ahli continued their pursuit of promotion by securing a 2-0 victory over relegation-threatened Najran at the Prince Hathloul Bin Abdul Aziz Sports City Stadium. This win enabled them to reclaim the top spot on the league table with a two-point lead.

Mosimane’s team have now secured their fifth consecutive win in a grueling battle for promotion against their closest challengers Al Hazm and Al Akhdoud, who currently occupy second and third place respectively.

Al Ahli is making good progress under Mosimane’s leadership as they aim to secure their return to the top-flight league.

Despite recent success, Pitso Mosimane has openly acknowledged the challenges faced by his team during their journey towards promotion.

In a social media post, Mosimane stated

“It has been a very arduous journey, and we are taking it one step at a time. As a team, we approach this with humility and accept our shortcomings. We know we have room for improvement and strive to do better. We remain prayerful for God’s guidance and strength as we continue our quest for promotion. So far, we have managed to keep our opponents at bay, conceding only one goal in the last five games.”

Pitso Mosimane’s success in Egypt has opened doors for him to make a mark in Saudi Arabia, where he currently manages Al Ahli.

Despite facing criticism from club legends and other prominent figures in Egyptian football, Mosimane achieved success at Al Ahly.

Now, in a different environment, he admits that the journey with Al Ahli has been challenging, despite having lost just once and guiding his team to the top of the table after joining them when they were off the pace of the leading pack.

If Al Ahli secures promotion to the top-flight league, they will have the opportunity to face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr. It remains to be seen whether Mosimane will sign any South African players if he manages to help his team back to the Saudi Pro League.

Next up for Mosimane and Al Ahli is a home fixture against fourth-placed Al Riyadh on Saturday. The experienced coach will be looking to guide his team to another victory and keep their hopes of promotion alive.
