Sadio Mane, who used to play for Liverpool, has said that Cristiano Ronaldo told him that his transfer to Bayern Munich was a good move. Mane left Anfield and joined the Bundesliga club for £35m last summer.

Liverpool had rejected two previous offers before accepting this amount, bringing his six-year stint with the club to an end.

During his final season with Liverpool, Mane helped the club win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, and he also contributed 22 goals in the season when Liverpool won the Premier League after a 30-year wait.

Last season, Ronaldo played for Manchester United, and he and Mane were rivals. It has been reported that Ronaldo wanted to join Bayern and that he congratulated Mane on his move to the club.

Mane spoke to BILDSport and said that Ronaldo’s comment showed that the Bundesliga was underestimated. He said that the recent performances of the German teams in the Champions League proved this.

Mane also said that he met Ronaldo in Mallorca before this season began, and Ronaldo congratulated him and said that joining Bayern was a great step for him.

Mane’s time in Germany has been affected by injuries. He missed the build-up to the World Cup and Senegal’s campaign in Qatar because of a leg injury. He has since returned to playing for Julian Nagelsman’s team.
