Brentford’s Ivan Toney has confessed to breaking multiple English FA gambling rules and may be banned from football for a long time.

In November, the 26-year-old was charged with 232 violations relating to FA rule E8, which prohibits players from betting on games or sharing privileged information for the purposes of betting.

In December, an additional 30 charges were filed against him. These alleged breaches occurred between 25 February 2017 and 23 January 2021, when Toney played for Scunthorpe United, Wigan Athletic, Peterborough United, and Brentford.

According to reports, Toney has admitted to many of the violations but is contesting others.

Toney is expected to face an FA disciplinary committee in the coming weeks to ensure the case is concluded quickly, allowing him to begin serving any suspension before the end of this season, including the fallow months of June and July.

This season, the striker has scored 14 goals in 21 Premier League games, helping Brentford reach the ninth place in the table and putting them in contention for European qualification
