This is an exciting opportunity for a diversified research experience for a growing social
science research professional. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in
carrying out research activities within the Pro-Vice-Chancellor’s Office. In particular, the
candidate will be responsible for assignments in developing research proposals for
consultancy opportunities and for applied academic research in the Pro-Vice-Chancellor’s
Office.

 A Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Development Studies, Sociology or
another cognate discipline with a merit pass or higher and an undergraduate qualification

5.2 Department of Crop and Soil Sciences

Qualifications and Experience

 Ideally, the successful candidate should possess a Master of Science in Agricultural
Economics, Agribusiness, Economics or equivalent, with considerable teaching and
research in Agricultural Economics or Agribusiness and related areas and a proven record
of publications in referred scientific journals.

 A PhD in Agricultural Economics will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Teaching at the undergraduate and post graduate levels on the subject areas of Business Foundations, Introduction to Economics, Crop production, Farms Records and Bookkeeping, Agricultural Management Strategy, Post-Harvest handling, Agroprocessing and Value Addition, Natural Resources Management and sustainable Agriculture, Risk Management for Business, Market Research and New Product Development, Agricultural Marketing and Logistics and Horticultural Production.
 Supervising projects in areas of competence.
 Participating in outreach activities in the Agricultural sector.

or Equivalent with a 2.1 or better.

 The candidate should be able to supervise post graduate and undergraduate students’ research projects and teach at least five modules from the following: Social Ecology, Integrated Production Systems, Fresh water Fish production, Plant form and function, Climate change and environment, Herpetology, Fire Ecology, Intensive wildlife
production systems, wildlife production ecology, Rangeland Ecology and Rural Development planning.

 Participating in outreach activities.
 Participation in income generation projects.

 Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate students in the following courses; Parallel Computing, Mobile Computing, Wireless Communication, Distributed Systems, Computer Architecture, Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic, Data Science, Information Systems Auditing, Information Security, Application Integration, Information Systems Strategy, and Mobile Application Development, Virtual reality, Human-Computer Integration, Network and Server Administration.

 Teach undergraduate and postgraduate levels
 Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
