Alan Shearer Offers Insightful Analysis of Jorginho’s Role at Arsenal
In his Premier League Team of the Week, Alan Shearer has selected Jorginho, the Arsenal midfielder, and commended the Italian for his performance. This was Jorginho’s second start for the Gunners, following his transfer from Chelsea, and according to Shearer, he was the team’s standout player.
Due to Thomas Partey’s injury, Jorginho was given his second consecutive start and made his third appearance for Arsenal, having previously come on as a substitute against Everton. Despite falling behind twice, Arsenal eventually secured a 4-2 victory over Aston Villa.
Ollie Watkins opened the scoring for Villa, and Philippe Coutinho equalized after Bukayo Saka had scored for Arsenal. However, Arsenal was the better team in the second half and managed to level the score through Oleksandr Zinchenko before Jorginho scored the decisive goal late on.
Mikel Arteta’s team secured a vital victory with a 4-2 scoreline, thanks in part to a long-range strike that hit the bar, bounced off Emi Martinez, and crossed the line.
Gabriel Martinelli scored a late goal to seal the win. Alan Shearer selected Jorginho as the only Arsenal player in his Premier League Team of the Week, praising the Italian for his composed and controlled performance, including his excellent goal which secured the team’s third goal.
